The original BP-235 and BP-236 battery design requires usage of 4 or 6 high-cost 14500 size Li-ion cells, to achieve 1600mAh and 2400mAh (manufacturer rating) capacity, respectively. This unique GL Batteries extended design enables the usage of 2 higher capacity, lower cost 18650 size Li-ion cells, delivering minimum 2000mAh capacity at a fraction of the cost! Note that the GLIC-236EX presents no compatibility problems- it can be used on the original charger, and the original belt clip can be attached and used as normal. The picture above shows the GLIC-236EX next to the standard BP235 / BP236 battery pack, for comparison. |
